
Ruth Vanita, Professor of English at University of Montana, was educated entirely in India and taught at Delhi University for 20 years. Co-founder of India’s first nationwide feminist magazine in 1979, she has published many books and articles, including Same-Sex Love in India and Love’s Rite: Same-Sex Marriage in India. Her areas of research include gender and sexuality in British and Indian literature and cinema, and Hindu philosophy. Her first novel, Memory of Light, appeared from Penguin in 2020.
